Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is one of the fastest growing public transport systems. Found to be as efficient as other rail systems, easier to implement and more cost effective, Gannett Fleming has consulted with clients across the country on BRT related projects to include bus lanes, stations, maintenance facilities, operations, and funding strategies.

We are looking for a BRT Program Manager to serve as a subject expert, leading Gannett Fleming's BRT offering. The successful candidate will lead client outreach and engagement, lead business development efforts, identify priority BRT opportunities, providing thought leadership, representing Gannett Fleming in all matters related to BRT on a national level, collaborating across other business lines to develop and implement strategy and drive innovation. This position can be fully remote with the flexibility to work anywhere within the continental United States.

You will match your technical and program experience to Gannett Fleming's network of transit and DOT clients to build awareness of our BRT capabilities and act as a trusted advisor on feasibility, cost effectiveness, and regulatory conformance and policy, with an emphasis on urban bus service, urban corridor improvements and arterial/bus rapid transit. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing transit service and mobility issues in metro regions to recommend service modifications or innovative options for improved mobility.
  • Working directly with current and potential clients to solicit and assess planning and multimodal transit needs.
  • Provide BRT-specific leadership to Gannett Fleming design and planning teams for project execution.
  • Mentor specific engineers and planners on the specific issues of BRT projects, to be prepared as BRT project leaders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or AICP Certification preferred
  • 15 plus years of progressive experience leading and delivering transit/transportation projects and/or programs
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience leading the delivery of complex urban bus service improvement programs with an emphasis on Arterial/Bus Rapid Transit corridors
  • Relationships with transit and DOT clients in the BRT marketplace.
  • Knowledge of engineering and planning firms in the BRT marketplace.
  • Adept at navigating dynamics of highly visible projects involving public engagement in collaboration with various state and local government leaders and agencies.
  • Capable of managing multiple, high-priority assignments
  • High level of emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills to cultivate positive working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Skilled at managing several projects and clients simultaneously
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and mentorship of teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience leading and supporting business development and capture planning efforts
