Position Type: Transportation/Bus Aide Date Posted: 7/3/2025 Location: Transportation Position Summary: To assist the Bus Driver with students on the bus. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Arrive at the transportation center at least 10 minutes before route departure time
- Assist the driver, as directed, in safely operating the bus on its assigned route
- Provide student behavioral support if needed
- Physically assist students on and off the bus as needed
- Assist with evacuation drills
- Monitor and manage student behavior
- Follow the discipline policies and procedures established by the transportation department
- Accurately check the roster on their route each day
- Monitor the safe loading/unloading and seating of their students
- Treat passengers in a positive and courteous manner
- Follow the policy of not discussing any children or bus situation that involves the children
- Assist in maintaining a clean bus
- Properly operate wheelchair lift/tie downs
- Participate in training provided by the Transportation Department as needed
- Assist any student on their route with special needs
- Perform daily the required walk-through of checking for sleeping students, lost items, litter, vandalism, or other unforeseen problems
- Work any route or activity trip assigned by the Director of Transportation
- Complete and keep the Route Survey and Seating Chart current
- Adhere to all district policies
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Transportation and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
