Click on the following link to see a little of what we have to offer:DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:The Building Monitor is part of the Facilities Maintenance Division. This position performs front desk duties while acting as a customer service representative and staff support assistant at the Administration Building or other assigned facilities. EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)
  • Responsible for the duties associated with, but not limited to, working at the Front Desk.
  • Greets, directs and assists guests in a pleasant, friendly, and efficient manner.
  • Maintains awareness of the daily schedule for the facility, including knowledge of the times and locations for each scheduled meeting, event, etc.
  • Assists Facility Maintenance staff with information regarding meeting room schedules, needs, etc.
  • Responsible for completion and accuracy of required records (attendance of groups etc.).
  • Responsible for facility promotion and positive public relations through interactions with the facility patrons.
  • Attends meetings and/or training as directed.
  • May assist Maintenance Technicians with general custodial tasks and program set-up and tear-down.
  • Performs other assigned duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be dependable and have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to possess Basic First Aid and CPR (Adult and Infant) Certifications within 60 days of assignment.
  • Previous experience dealing with the public in a mature and responsible manner required.
  • Some skill in the operation of basic office and computer equipment.
  • Previous community center or facility operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to research and give information about programs offered by the Township.
  • Ability to assist with manual labor; must be able to lift and carry tables and chairs and perform general set-up.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) are required.
  • Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to physically monitor all areas inside the Administration Building, including, but not limited to, stairwells, lower-level meeting rooms and the 2nd and 3rd floors of the facility as well as the immediate area outside the facility.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations; must be able to climb stairs to the 3rd level of the facility to assist during emergencies and building evacuation.
  • Must be willing to conform to department dress code/uniform policy.
  • Must be able to work afternoons and evenings and have the ability to work weekends and holidays, if needed.

  • This is a part-time job opportunity. An employee in this position can work up to 29 hours per week year-round. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on workload and availability.
  • This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position will be classified as part-time.
