Job Description

Conquest Solutions, LLC (CQS) is a leading application and engineering consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. metro area, specializing in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and General Construction. We serve federal, state, and local government agencies, hospitals, schools, universities, private sector companies, and commercial entities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a BAS Application Engineer Level II to support the implementation of building automation systems for multiple clients in the Washington, DC Metro Area.

Position Overview

The BAS Application Engineer Level II is responsible for engineering auditing, design, and implementation of BAS strategies across various mechanical and electrical systems to ensure project success. This customer-facing role requires experience in BAS application engineering. The position involves leadership and may include design, renovation, retrofit, auditing, retro-commissioning, checkout, and programming. It reports to a Senior Project Manager/Director.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct project site visits to investigate existing BAS systems, document conditions, system performance, and infrastructure drawings.
  • Lead engineering design and development activities supporting BAS construction, operations, and maintenance for projects like energy savings performance contracts, O & M contracts, and fee-based consultations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for successful project implementation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address issues and functionality changes in control systems.
  • Manage integration activities and provide technical support for DDC hardware and software, including creating and verifying control and integration point lists.
  • Perform graphics engineering functions, review graphics for accuracy, develop graphic libraries, and troubleshoot graphic issues.
  • Document and collaborate with project stakeholders to align objectives, priorities, schedules, and risks.
  • Assist in training staff, operators, and end users on BAS operations and procedures.
  • Identify potential problems, recommend solutions, and work with clients to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Contribute to process improvements and project quality enhancements.
  • Facilitate project sign-offs, walk-throughs, and closeouts with clients.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in HVAC, Building Automation, or control systems; at least 3 years in integration, checkout, testing, commissioning, or support of DDC/PLC systems.
  • Engineering degree or related field preferred but not mandatory with sufficient experience.
  • Programming experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of control theory, temperature controls, BAS, PLC logic, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with IP networks and communication protocols like BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and plan work effectively under constraints.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain technical info to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with web and mobile technologies.
  • High ownership, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Physical Demands

Regular sitting, handling, talking, standing, walking, reaching, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

Exposure to various conditions including humidity, mechanical parts, heights, fumes, weather, cold, heat, electrical hazards, and vibration; moderate noise level.

Additional Requirements

U.S. Citizenship required. Must pass background, reference, security, and drug screenings. Ability to qualify for a U.S. government security clearance.
