Salary: $16.50 Hourly Location : Yucaipa, CA Job Type: Temporary/Part-time Job Number: 00253 Department: Community Services Division: Senior Services Opening Date: 08/04/2025 Closing Date: 8/25/2025 11:59 PM Pacific Job Description Under the direction of the Senior Building Attendant, the Building Attendant is responsible for supervising community center activities and assisting with class registration. Positions are available at the Yucaipa Scherer Community Center, the Yucaipa Community Center, and the 7th Street Pool. The Scherer Center operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and the Yucaipa Community Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Hours at the 7th Street Pool may vary. Additional shifts may be available during evenings and weekends at all locations for rentals and special events. Maximum of 950 hours per fiscal year. Examples of Duties The typical duties of this position include:
- Answering phones and assisting patrons;
- Providing excellent public relations and customer service;
- Assisting with clerical duties using a computer and related software;
- Maintaining a clean and orderly facility;
- Assisting with minor janitorial maintenance;
- Supporting set-up and tear-down of rentals and contract classes;
- Collecting registration fees and preparing daily records;
- Responding to and managing emergencies appropriately;
- Enforcing community center rules and policies;
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with staff and patrons;
- Communicating effectively both orally and in writing; and
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Performance of assigned duties and responsibilities may include prolonged standing, sitting, walking on level or unleveled surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting 25 pounds or more, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. Typical Qualifications REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Flexible schedule, including working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be willing to work at least one (1) City Festival annually.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six (6) months of employment.
