Job DetailsJob Location: Purgatory Resort - DURANGO, COPosition Type: SeasonalSalary Range: $19.00 - $19.00 HourlyDescriptionBrush CrewGeneral Purpose:This team is responsible for vegetation management along ski trails, primarily using brush saws. Brush saw, chainsaw, and heavy equipment experience preferred, but not required. Must be capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions and hiking in steep, uneven terrain while carrying tools/equipment. Must also be confident in the operation of vehicles on rugged 4x4 mountain roads.This is a seasonal position from 7/7/25 to 11/1/25. This position will remain open until filledEssential Duties/Responsibilities:● Perform vegetation clearing along ski trails using brush saws, trimmers, and other cutting tools. ● Occasionally operate chainsaws to remove small trees, limbs, and hazard vegetation as needed. ● Assist with trail visibility and corridor maintenance by removing overgrowth and encroaching brush. ● Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and equipment.● Load, transport, and refuel tools and equipment daily.● Drive trucks and trailers on steep, narrow, and rough 4x4 mountain roads in variable weather and terrain conditions.● Support other Trails Maintenance and construction teams as needed, including grading, drainage work, and material transport.● Communicate effectively with management, team leads, and coworkers to complete tasks efficiently and safely.● Adhere to all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). ● Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance, reporting issues promptly.Other Responsibilities:● Revegetate hillside, planting grasses and spreading seed● Dig pot holes, maintenance gates/fences and other construction duties as assigned ● Clean up trash● Other duties as assignedQualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Foundational knowledge in farming, logging, landscaping, or heavy construction is preferred. This role requires physical coordination, strong awareness, focus, sound judgment, and precision. Additional skills include spatial awareness, memory, reasoning, initiative, integrity, an eye for detail, and the ability to identify and respond to auditory and olfactory cues.Special Certifications/Licensing: Valid Driver's LicenseEducation or Formal Training: None required.Experience: A minimum of 6 months experience in related activities strongly preferred. Working Environment/Physical Activities:99% of the workday is spent outdoors in a mountain forest environment, in changing weather conditions including but not limited to: extreme cold and heat, wind, snow, rain, thunder and lightning storms. 30% of the workday is spent standing and 60% is spent walking on uneven terrain. 10% of the workday is spent sitting.Frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking and listening, using near and far acuity depth perception, color and field of vision. Occasionally climbing, crawling, feeling, and smelling. Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
