Position Scope The Box Office Representative is a full-time sales and customer service position, requiring friendly, respectful, and accurate communications with all visitors. It is essential that the Box Office Representative possesses a competent, professional, and customer-focused demeanor and can anticipate questions from concertgoers. The Box Office Representative may also need to perform supporting administrative work, requiring attention to detail and technical proficiency. This role is a union position covered by Local 751 and part of the Ticketing Operations department. Ticketing software experience is required (Tessitura preferred). Responsibilities

  • Provide welcoming, friendly, respectful, and culturally sensitive customer service to all patrons and visitors
  • Provide customers with accurate information about Carnegie Hall's concert season as well as individual concerts, Visiting Presenter performances, and other events as needed
  • Interact with customers to help and support:
    • Single ticket sales
    • Subscription ticket exchanges
    • Education event ticket sales
    • Tour ticket sales
    • Subscription package renewals
    • General information inquiries
    • Troubleshooting and/or customer service inquiries
    • Gift certificate purchases
  • Perform supporting administrative work, including but not limited to:
  • Process complimentary and consignment ticket orders
  • Prepare daily mail and FedEx shipments
  • Distribute reports to Promoters and Producers
  • Manage holds and allocations
  • Print and distribute single and complimentary tickets
  • Communicate with promoters, presenters and internal staff as needed. The Box Office Representative may be asked to join meetings with external or internal participants
  • Perform daily checkout and closeout of box office receipts, including the daily cash deposit
  • Assist with building and ongoing maintenance of Visiting Presenter performances and Tours in Tessitura ticketing system
  • Additional projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ticketing software experience (Tessitura preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Office with strong skills in Excel and Outlook
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Membership is required in Treasurers and Tickets Sellers Union, Local 751 IATSE
  • Passion and appreciation for music and performing arts
Work Schedule and Location
  • This is a full-time, on-site position at Carnegie Hall, 881 Seventh Avenue, New York City.
  • The Box Office is open seven days per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule within all hours of operation.
