Job DescriptionFRANKLIN COUNTY BOOKING/PROPERTY CLERK August 6, 2015Position Description Non-ExemptOVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB To maintain and process arrestee/commitment documentation, provide data entry of arrestee/commitment property, along with providing on-going inventory of booking supply needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
Documents and enters all aspects of inmate personal property to include any currency. Responsible for the maintenance of inmate property ensuring it is stored in a safe and secure manner. Runs computer reports on inmate personal property and submits reports to required personnel. Maintains updated filing and tracking system for all records pertaining to inmate property. Enters all essential data into computer data files. Operates computer, copy machine, fax machine and other office equipment, as needed to perform essential functions of job. Assists in answering telephones, incoming and within, and directs calls to appropriate individuals. Consults with various criminal justice agencies to ensure appropriate documentation of commitments and discharges. Complies data necessary for completion of reports for monthly reports. May, as required, supervise inmates. Assists correctional officers in emergency and non-emergency situations. OTHER DUTIES OF JOB
Attends meetings and training seminars as required. Performs other job-related duties, as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives daily instruction and supervision from the Central Booking Administrator in regard to daily work duties. SUPERVISION GIVEN None. WORKING CONDITIONS
Works indoors in adequate work space, lighting and ventilation, but with fluctuations in temperature. Works indoors with average exposure to noise, disruptions, dust and dirt. Occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of fifty (50) pounds. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REOUIREMENTS
Must possess ability to record, convey, present information, and explain procedures and follow directions. Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the work day, with occasional periods of bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, standing and walking as necessary to carry out job duties. Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands; feet/legs; torso, as necessary, to perform essential functions of the job. Must demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to pay close attention to details and be able to concentrate on work. OUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to speak and understand the English language in an understandable manner in order to carry out essential functions of the job. Must possess knowledge of general office practices and have good organizational skills. Must have some knowledge of computer software, spreadsheets and statistical programs. Must possess ability to be able to handle a variety of clerical duties and switch from one to another throughout the workday. Must possess ability to learn county and legal rules, procedures and practices as necessary within department. Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to client information and records. Must possess knowledge and ability to practice current and accurate usage of grammar, spelling and filing procedures.
