About the RoleThe President reports to the Idaho State Board of Education and is the chief executive officer and president of Boise State. As Idaho's largest university, Boise State seeks a bold, visionary leader who will engage stakeholders across the state and position the institution as a leader in higher education while honoring Idaho's unique values and culture. The President will connect authentically with Idaho's broad and independent communities, from rural agricultural regions to dynamic city centers, serving as both an educational leader and a trusted voice in Idaho's future conversations. While academic credentials, such as a terminal degree and high academic achievement, are valued, effective and inspirational leadership—relationship building, management, and driving innovation—is equally important. The candidate should possess experience across academic, management, business, political, and relational sectors, with the ability to demonstrate competence in these areas.
