Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking a Boiler Superintendent for our Wiggins, Mississippi plywood facility. This site employs approximately 350 people. As the Boiler Superintendent, you will play a critical role at the facility by managing a team and equipment that safely and efficiently produce power needed to drive our production operations.Purpose:Lead your assigned area by utilizing the Hood Management Philosophy of The Hood Way by engaging People and managing through Process to drive sustainable Performance while maintaining positive employee relations, meeting the company's production goals, and operating within company policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:* Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to eliminate hazards and reduce risks.* Responsible for planning and directing boiler operations of the facility, working with other departmental superintendents to maintain targeted uptime for each key area.* Provides operational/business leadership and technical support for the manufacturing process and facilitates troubleshooting and problem solving to achieve goals.* Manages direct reports by setting expectations and providing leadership development. Responsible for evaluating bench strength in the department and identifying future development needs for employees.* Provides overall direction and maintenance planning for boiler and boiler-related equipment. Ensure the boiler operates within designed parameters and environmental quality regulations. Maintains environmental paperwork and logs daily.* Responsible for budget preparation and execution which includes capital and project management, KPI/KSF management, and hog fuel, log yard and ash cleanup maintenance planning. Tracks and trends chemical usage and boiler data, as well as supplies and parts purchases.* Manages environmental requirements including tracking and maintaining boiler certifications and regulatory compliance.* Responsible for the strategic planning around steam flow and steam reliability to various departments in order to maximize throughput.* Develop boiler maintenance best practices and implement them via the CMMS system.Education/Qualifications:* Associate or bachelor's degree preferred; experience may be used in place of a degree.* 3+ years of leadership experience.* 3-5 years of experience with boiler operations in a wood drying function or boiler maintenance is preferred. Prior experience in a 24-hour/7-day-a-week operation is a plus.* Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.* Good knowledge of plant/manufacturing processes.* Excellent technical aptitude.* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.* Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.Additional Information:Hood Industries offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package including medical, employee assistance program, dental, vision, 401(k), cancer, flexible spending accounts, life, and LTD, available first of the month following completion of one month of continuous full-time employment.Hood Industries requires that applicants consent to a background check and a drug screen to continue in the selection process.
