Black Utility Piping Support Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Black Utility Piping Support Engineer to assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of black utility piping systems. This role supports senior construction leads and EPCM representatives by contributing to design reviews, field coordination, and system readiness activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulated construction environments and a strong understanding of piping systems such as hydronic water, glycol, steam, and condensate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support early design phase activities by assisting with piping and equipment layout planning.
- Help implement the project's sustainability goals.
- Assist in coordinating piping and equipment design solutions across the site.
- Support the review of piping specifications, installation details, and pipe rack designs.
- Contribute to determining main pipe routing and assist with clash detection using 3D models.
- Help define system boundaries to facilitate commissioning.
- Participate in 3D model reviews and assess piping progress with master planners.
- Assist in reviewing space coordination and equipment routing plans during construction.
- Support constructability reviews with the site construction team.
- Help prepare SOWs for tendering of piping and mechanical packages.
- Assist in developing piping handover package documentation with the CQV team.
- Review contractor submittals and provide input during the tendering process.
- Support site construction and project controls teams with piping and equipment installation activities.
- Track progress and assist in coordination to meet schedule, cost, and quality targets.
- Participate in system walkdowns to verify compliance and readiness for mechanical completion.
- Coordinate with contractors and engineers to help resolve field issues.
- Maintain organized documentation of installation and inspection activities.
- Assist in preparing systems for commissioning and support startup activities.
- Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience supporting construction and commissioning of utility systems in pharmaceutical or biotech facilities.
- Familiarity with GMP standards, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Understanding of piping systems including hydronic water, glycol, steam, and condensate.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting commissioning and startup of utility systems.
- Certification or coursework in project management or a related field.
- Experience supporting validation and qualification activities.
- Proficiency with construction and project management software.
