MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college or university, majoring in electronics and one (1) year of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment; or:B) Graduation from high schoolor possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment; or:C) An equivalent training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting the full-time experience requirements.OVERTIME IS A REQUIREMENT OF THIS POSITIONTYPICALWORK ACTIVITIES:Tests,installs, maintains and repairs biomedical equipment such as, hemodialysismachines, infusion pumps, water treatment systems, monitors, electronicphysiological monitoring equipment, audio video and communication equipment; Analyzescomputer-based physiological and mechanical monitor and electronic equipmentschematics and wiring diagrams to locate defective circuits and sources ofmalfunctions; Performsthe calibration of electronic components and other parts for the repair ofcomputer-based monitor systems and electronic equipment; Assemblespurchased monitor and electronic equipment; Testsnew equipment for accuracy and proper operation; Assistsin the interfacing of all patient monitoring equipment data output to networkservers and wireless communications; Ordersand inventories replacement parts and maintenance supplies; Documentsall inspections, preventive maintenance and repair work; Ensurestest equipment is calibrated and operating properly; Maintainsbeds, carts and other equipment as assigned. FULLPERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:Thorough knowledge of the tools, terminology, procedures and equipment requiredfor the maintenance, repair, operation, testing and calibration of moderncomplex computer-based monitor systems and electronic equipment; good knowledgeof the hazards, applicable safety standards and performance requirementsrelated to hospital instrumentation for patient care; skill in the use oftesting and calibration devices such as oscilloscopes, signal generators,digital multimeters and special instrumentation for testing computer basedmedical instruments; ability to service and repair various types of electronicand electromechanical equipment; ability to read and interpret electric andelectronic drawings, diagrams and operational specifications, ability tocorrect complex technical difficulties; ability to work with others; goodcommunication skills; initiative; resourcefulness; capable of performing theessential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the installation, maintenance and repair of computer-based, electronic and electromechanical hospital biomedical equipment at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. This is a technical position responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of hospital biomedical equipment and the calibration of mini and micro based computer systems. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher-ranking Biomedical Engineering personnel. Does related work as required.
