Billing Specialist (Remote – San Diego, CA)

Location: Rady Children's Business Center, 5855 Copley Dr, San Diego, CA 92111

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (flexible start time between 6 AM – 9 AM PST)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Start Date: September 8, 2025

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join the Reimbursement Services team at Rady Children's Business Center. This is a remote position; however, candidates must live in San Diego and be available to report to the office as needed to support on-site staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform billing and collections for commercial, government, and managed care payors.
• Utilize Epic for billing/collections workflows.
• Prepare and send paper claims, appeals, and refund requests.
• Research and resolve outstanding account balances.
• Apply payor contract language to reimbursement calculations.
• Maintain professional communication with payors and internal teams.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of hospital billing and collections experience.
• Experience billing commercial payors.
• Epic system experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
