JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the management of the billing process for a selected group of Billing Attorneys to provide billing support, special requests and projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with the Billing Team, clients, attorneys and their assistants in the preparation of client billing, and is responsible for primary billing relationships with billing attorneys and clients
  • Reviews time entries to ensure proper matter coding, billing rates, compliance with client guidelines and/or e-billing guidelines and missing time
  • Prepares client bills, including narrative description bills, as well as detailed time/cost bill formats directly from Elite 3E
  • Assists with cash receipts, including researching cash receipt problems
  • Responsible for tracking billing attorney's completion and report to Manager
  • Responds to Partner billing-related inquiries accurately and timely, responds to client inquiries and maintains a high-standard level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing billing analysis and research
  • Manages the billing cycle for selected group of billing attorneys ensuring that the client bills are processed timely and in accordance with the client agreement
  • Perform daily activities of the billing function in support of Partners and Clients, including but not limited to proforma generation and edits and report generation
  • Monitor the status of proformas; identify issues and work with billing attorneys to resolve aged unbilled and other billing issues
  • Monitor client guidelines and e-Billing applications to ensure billing instructions are current and adhere to client requirements
  • Respond to billing inquiries and requests from attorneys, collection team and Management team
  • Assist Billing Manager during other team absence or provide support to billing team members

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Technical Skills: The ability to quickly learn and integrate new technical skills and knowledge; seeks out avenues to enhance technical skills.
  • Understanding of the Firm/Organization: Understands how the firm operates and generates revenue.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years experience in legal billing
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with various e-billing vendors and requirements
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills needed to communicate clearly and concisely with senior management, and with Partners and clients
  • Proficiency in e-billing
  • Strong analytical skills

SALARY RANGE

$55,000 - $75,000 based on experience
