Position Overview
The Family Worker plays a critical role within the QCH Childcare Network (QCCN) by enrolling and supporting families in the NYC DOE EarlyLearn and 3K Programs. This position is responsible for conducting outreach, guiding families through the enrollment process, advocating for their needs, and coordinating meaningful parent engagement activities.
The Family Worker helps families navigate key systems that impact their children's well-being, including education, healthcare, housing, benefits, legal services, and immigration support. The goal is to ensure that families have access to the resources, information, and skills they need to thrive.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide family services and engagement activities under the guidance of the QCCN Director.
Support the enrollment process, including recruitment, registration, intake, family assessments, and ongoing support.
Respond promptly to parent/family inquiries to promote successful enrollment outcomes.
Collect and maintain all required documentation for enrollment in EarlyLearn and 3K Programs in compliance with DOE and DOH guidelines.
Create and use tracking reports, spreadsheets, surveys, and records to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Collaborate with families and providers to develop individualized family plans.
Plan and coordinate monthly parent engagement activities in partnership with educational staff.
Provide ongoing services for families requiring additional supports (e.g., special education, mental health, housing).
Attend case conferences and follow-up meetings for children with special needs.
Connect families to appropriate resources and make referrals to community partners.
Build partnerships with community organizations that provide mental health, special needs, and other supports.
Coordinate workshops, events, and celebrations to strengthen family engagement.
Maintain and update a Community Partner Resource Guide for providers and families.
Administer family surveys, compile feedback, and prepare summary reports for network leadership.
Support holistic family needs, including mental and behavioral health concerns.
Maintain updated family information in the Network database.
Document all family engagement interactions in alignment with the Early Childhood Framework for Quality (EFQ).
Connect families to other QCH programs and services when appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by Network Leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field (completed or in progress).
Fluency in Spanish (read, write, and speak).
Willingness to travel within the QCCN catchment area.
Effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a high level of organization.
Appreciation for the unique needs of providers and families.
Experience working with families with young children (required).
Experience in family childcare and/or working with infants and toddlers (preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
COVID-19 vaccination and NYC DOE PETS clearance required.
