Posting Details Position Information Position Type Non Classified Job Title Benefits Specialist Classification Title Project Program Specialist Campus Location ASU Beebe Job DescriptionGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION This position reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and is responsible for managing and administering employee benefit programs for all employees on all ASU-Beebe campuses. This includes monthly coverage reconciliations as well as compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations and ASU System policies. In addition, this position will be responsible for the accurate and timely updates of all employee benefits, review of employee leave and time entry, and serve as a point of contact for FMLA, Catastrophic Leave, Retirement, Workers Compensation and other employee benefits provided by Arkansas State University-Beebe. This position serves as the point of contact for open enrollment and conducts new employee orientation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Schedules and conducts New Employee Orientation and prepares all information for payroll and set up for benefit eligible employees. This duty is performed daily.
  • Serves as Benefit Coordinator and employee liaison by providing daily technical support for all employee benefits including health, life, dental, vision, retirement and all voluntary products. This duty is performed daily.
  • Monthly reconciliation of all insurance and other benefit related coverages.
  • Enters and maintains accurate and up-to-date employee demographic, benefit and job information ensuring data integrity and confidentiality in the HRIS.
  • Updates all third-party benefits for accurate employee benefit coverage and reporting in the benefit portal. This duty is performed daily.
  • Prepares reports to include IPEDS, COBRA invoice, Catastrophic Leave Report. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Processes and provides support for all FMLA, Catastrophic Leave and Worker's Compensation requests.
  • Monitors and reviews employee's time and leave entries for accuracy. Reconciles monthly leave reports with FMLA, Catastrophic Leave and Worker's Compensation requests. Prepares monthly and yearly employee leave reports. This duty is performed weekly.
  • Serves as the point of contact to provide benefit policy information for ASUB employees. This duty is performed weekly.
  • Coordinates yearly employee Benefit Fair in the fall and Wellness event in the spring. This duty is performed daily.
  • Provides support and serves as backup to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Maintains current knowledge of benefits rules and regulations as it pertains to ASU System benefits and policies. This duty is performed daily.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Public Administration or a related field such as accounting, education, marketing, organizational management, etc. plus one-year related experience or a combination or education and experience. Related experience in the administration of benefits including Family Medical Leave, Worker's Compensation, and COBRA required.
