Job Description :

The Benefits Advisor is responsible for the business development of our employee benefits insurance offering, working to build relationships with key decision makers at prospective businesses and our existing clients, then developing those relationships into revenue through sales and UNICO's unique approach to risk management. Requirements Sales and Consulting

  • Actively prospecting new business opportunities through various channels, including use of sales tools, your personal and professional networks, events, referrals, etc.
  • Create and deliver compelling sales presentations tailored to each client's unique needs.
  • Initiate the sales process with a thorough risk discovery and collaborate with technical support and industry-specialized client executives as needed.
  • Participate in team new business sales with other Benefit Advisors or Client Executives.
  • Leverage Salesforce for pipeline and sales process management.
  • Manage workload and relationships while consistently hitting monthly sales goals.
Relationship Management and Client Retention
  • Foster strong and long-lasting relationships with your clients and book of business.
  • Collaborate with Benefits Advisors, Client Executives and other team members to onboard and retain clients.
  • Attend key client meetings including pre-planning meetings, renewal meetings, and annual risk management sessions.
  • Work with advisors in group benefits and personal insurance to create cross- sell opportunities .
Professional Development
  • Stay current with new benefit plan management ideas and strategies.
  • Remain informed regarding UNICO resources, industry information and new product information.
  • Pursue further industry education through insurance courses with intent to achieve an industry designation.
  • Engage in community activities and volunteer opportunities to further professional and personal development.
Professional Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Three plus years of sales experience. Experience in group benefit insurance is a plus.
  • Licensure: Current Nebraska insurance license or willingness to obtain license prior to employment.

  • Ability to successfully interact with a variety of client personality types.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, client-friendly manner.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and a variety of other software, systems, and programs, with the ability to learn new software applications.
Physical Demands
  • Travel is required
  • Advisors may spend a significant portion of their day on their feet, whether visiting clients, attending meetings, or walking between locations.
  • May occasionally need to lift or carry objects weighing up to 25-50 pounds, such as sample products or promotional materials.
  • Individuals must have close visual acuity to be able to see details of objects at a distance or close-up, such as reading documents or inspecting products.
  • Need to be able to hear and understand speech, both in person and over the phone.
