Job Description :

We are searching for a highly qualified Intake Specialist to support our independent substance use and behavioral health treatment and education facility. Our organization has been serving the community for over a century and provides innovative and compassionate care to those seeking treatment for stigmatized disorders, including substance use and mental health illnesses.

Position Summary:

This clinical professional reports to the shift supervisor and is responsible for facilitating admissions and completing initial clinical intake assessments. They will also oversee and conduct ASAM assessments for level of care, determine eligibility for services, gather necessary information, and facilitate smooth transitions into the facility by coordinating with the Counseling and/or Nursing departments.

Qualifications:

Direct experience in the field of substance use disorders and mental health treatment is highly desirable.

Familiarity with the managed care pre-certification process, level of care assessments, and utilization is preferred.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree is required

A Master's degree in a social services field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, or Health Administration) from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is highly preferred

Compensation:

$55,000 - $59,000/yr

Schedule and Work Environment:

Full-Time / Overnight: 11 pm – 7 am (Sunday through Thursday)

In-person office setting

Objectives/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the clinical review process of potential admissions and referrals
  • Respond to phone calls and inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes, as well as any Answering Service messages with replies noted in their system
  • Complete all admissions and consent forms with the patient; provide initial screening and level of care assessments, and complete ASAM assessments
  • Responsible for maintaining patient wait times (informing supervisor if there are delays or concerns)
  • Facilitate the insurance verification process and secure appropriate funding. Perform benefit eligibility to ensure patient benefits are active at admission. If needed, contact the Single County Authority to obtain county funding and complete necessary consents and paperwork in PA WITS
  • Collaborate with the Nursing, Medical, or Psychiatric department leaders to ensure appropriate recommendations regarding pending referrals
  • Coordinate admissions and transfers from referral sources and between levels of care within the facility
  • Assist with new admission arrival procedures, such as searches and UDS
  • Communicate projected admissions to designated internal representatives promptly
  • Assist the Nursing leaders with ensuring all clinical information from referral sources or patients (including medical comorbidity information) is received, when possible, before patient admission.
  • Possess skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation resulting in authorization at the level of care requested by the payor
  • Complete pre-authorization for treatment and admission prior to visit, when possible, and within payor timeframe guidelines; in addition, obtain insurance authorizations and complete insurance notifications
  • Serve as a clinical liaison between the interdisciplinary team (providers, nursing, clinicians, etc.)
  • Facilitate new admission orientation of the hospital and/or residential services
  • Serve as a community liaison and maintain partnerships with referral sources within the community
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards the customers ALWAYS. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. Respect patient confidentiality and privacy
  • Other related duties as assigned
