Position Summary: Join our dedicated Central Access Team as a Behavioral Health Clinician and play a crucial role in enhancing access to inpatient behavioral health care. You will be instrumental in forming relationships with local hospitals, emergency rooms, nursing homes, and providers to facilitate timely and efficient bed requests. This position requires precise communication skills and the ability to present cases clearly to medical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maximize patient access to services across the inpatient behavioral health service line.
• Collaborate with the Director of CAT, Nurse Managers, Crisis Services, and Utilization Review to ensure smooth patient movement across the system.
• Assist with the verification of benefits and prior authorizations to secure payment from insurance companies.
• Work directly with patients, families, and referring professionals to ensure they receive the best care possible.
• Gather and organize necessary medical documentation for patient admissions.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with community referral resources to promote increased admissions.
• Review clinical data to determine the appropriate level of care in consultation with attending physicians.

Qualifications:

• A Master's Degree and certification in a Behavioral Health field are required.
• At least 10 years of experience in the Behavioral Health field, particularly in Utilization Review.
• Experience with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders is essential.
• Proficiency in benefit verification, eligibility checks, and understanding admission criteria.

Skills and Competencies:

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with hospital-based inpatient behavioral health care settings.
• An understanding of managed care and utilization review processes.
• Knowledge of hospital-level care requirements and the importance of medication reconciliations.
