Candidates must provide the best quality service and possess the flexibility and commitment to meet the needs of our clients. The BSS will work with the individuals and their entire support team to develop and ensure proper implementation of behavior support plans, develop behavior assessments, collect and monitor data, complete monthly status updates, and train the individual and support teams on the behavioral needs of the individual. The BSS ensures that they create an atmosphere that induces optimal growth for the individuals we serve while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. Candidates must have a can-do positive attitude that is always looking to help others live their best life. The Behavior Support Specialist must:

  • Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, special education, counseling, or related field and transcripts of all academic degree completion or proof of license must be provided.
  • Have two (2) years of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Obtain all Pennsylvania Child Abuse clearances within 3 months of date of hire.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and successfully complete a driving history record check.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Have a fully functioning vehicle to travel in the Johnstown, Somerset, and Bedford areas and will be reimbursed mileage.
