Please note: To be considered for this role, candidates must hold either a current Behavior Analyst license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), as well as a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) or a Professional Educators License (PEL) with and LBSI endorsement. Behavior Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation to educational teams to teach and model socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
  • Support educational teams in order to establish and enforce rules for behavior and policies and procedures to maintain order among students that align with the program guidelines.
  • Employ a problem-solving process to determine a course of intervention as prescribed by the district's tiered behavior interventions.
  • Confer with parents, administrators, and educational team members to develop alternative educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social/emotional development.
  • Provide feedback and corrective strategies to educational teams as follow-up to applied interventions.
  • Observe, evaluate, collect and analyze data of students' behavioral performance in collaboration with the educational team.

Behavior Specialist Qualifications:

  • Education:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Valid IL LBS PEL from ISBE with LBSI. BCBA or RBA will be considered.
  • Experience:Teaching experience with students with a variety of learning, emotional, or cognitive disabilities.
  • Background Check:Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).
  • TB Clearance
  • Eligibility to Work:Eligibility to work in the US

Behavior Specialist Physical Demands:

  • Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
  • Activity: Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
