A leading multi-service organization in the New York City metropolitan area is currently seeking a dedicated Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) to join their team in Brooklyn and Queens. This full-time role involves supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community-based setting.
About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: Fieldwork required
- Shift: Flexible schedule between 7 AM and 5 PM
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, with optional weekends
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible scheduling with breaks
- Setting: Group homes
Responsibilities:
- Developing functional behavioral assessments and support plans
- Providing individual and group counseling
- Presenting psychotropic medications to the Human Rights Committee
- Training staff in behavior support plan implementation
- Referring individuals for psychiatric and psychological care
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of related work experience in the field
- Master's Degree in a related field
- Proficiency in Data Analysis and support plan development
- Experience with Mental Health services coordination
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Flexibility and reliability
- Empathy and professionalism
Desired Skills:
- 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Master's Degree in Psychology
- BCBA certification
- Expertise in Behavior Support plan training
- Strong problem-solving skills
