Job Description :

The Barn Support Staff plays a key role in maintaining the health and cleanliness of the Frost Valley horse barn during the afternoon. This role supports our herd of 20-50 horses by ensuring their basic needs are met and that the barn environment is clean and safe. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a love for horses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Feed horses according to provided schedules and dietary guidelines
  • Clean stalls, tack areas, and communal barn spaces
  • Remove manure from paddocks and pastures
  • Restock feed, hay, and bedding supplies
  • Grooming horses
  • Tacking horses before and after rides
  • Monitor general health and behavior of horses and report any concerns Assist with turning horses in or out, as needed
  • Ensure that safety and cleanliness standards are maintained throughout all areas
  • Work cooperatively with the equestrian team and follow all Frost Valley protocols

Requirements
  • Must be at least 15 years old
  • Prior experience with horse care is preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs (hay bales, feed bags, muck buckets)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is primarily outdoors or in an open barn setting
  • Requires physical labor including lifting, bending, mucking, and walking on uneven ground
  • Must be comfortable working around large animals
