Job Description :

A top tier legal team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bankruptcy Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience, primarily focused on debtor-side representation in complex Chapter 11 proceedings. The ideal candidate will bring a BigLaw background, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset to a dynamic and growing restructuring practice. This is part of a growth strategy initiative. The role will sit in New York City in a hybrid structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent corporate debtors in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, out-of-court restructurings, transactional work and related litigation.
  • Draft and negotiate key bankruptcy documents including first-day motions, disclosure statements, and plans of reorganization.
  • Advise clients on strategic restructuring options, including distressed M&A and asset sales under Section 363.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on bankruptcy code, case law, and related commercial issues.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, investment bankers, and other professionals in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in court hearings and manage case dockets with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor junior associates and contribute to business development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to New York bar or ability to gain admission quickly.
  • Minimum of 3 years of bankruptcy experience, with a strong emphasis on debtor-side work.
  • Prior experience at a top-tier law firm (Am Law 100 or equivalent) is required.
  • Strong commercial acumen and client-service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cross-border insolvency matters or distressed finance.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy litigation and adversary proceedings.
  • Clerkship experience with a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge is a plus.
