Responsibilities
The Data Engineer develops and maintains data pipelines and processes related to data movement and transformation within the enterprise. This requires the creation of new pipelines using established code management and standard methodologies using provided tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, optimizes, and maintains data architecture and pipelines that adhere to ELT principles and business goals
- Solves complex data problems to deliver insights that helps business achieve its goals
- Creates data products for engineer, analyst, and data scientist team members to accelerate their productivity
- Engineers effective features for modeling in close collaboration with data scientists and businesses
- Leads the evaluation, implementation and deployment of emerging tools and process for data engineering in order to improve productivity as a team and quality
- Partners with machine learning engineers, BI, and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives
- Fosters a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions
- Advises, consults, mentors, and coaches other data and analytic professionals on data standards and practices
- Develops and delivers communication and education plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes
- Learns about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics as necessary to carry out role effectively
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working in data engineering or data architect role
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Experience with TSQL, SSIS and SSMS and understanding of Agile development, DataOps and CI/CD principles
- Expertise in ELT, data analysis, SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Pyspark, Python)
- Experience with designing and maintaining data warehouses including housing, accessing, and transforming data in a variety of relational databases including MS SQL Server
- Experience with ETL frameworks such as DBT or Kedro and in building data pipelines and deploying/maintaining them with best-in-class tools (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps)
- Exposure to machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics
- Familiarity with the Windows and Linux operating systems
- Basic familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Tableau, SSRS)
- Data security and the appropriate care of sensitive patient information
- Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modelling, reporting tools, data governance, and structured and unstructured data
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience with cloud database technologies (e.g., Azure) and developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure in the data and analytics space including big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark and Databricks
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience as a Data Engineer on a cross-functional agile team preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare data privacy regulations
- Background working with Healthcare data CMS Medicare/Medicaid Programs, Electronic Medical Records or Payer claim data
- Continuous improvement mindset and a desire to always be growing their technical knowledge and leadership acumen
- Focused on agile delivery with a fail-fast, succeed early mindset and measurable outcomes
- Flexibility to changes in work direction as the project develops according to highest-priority business needs
- Strong work ethic; ability to work at an abstract level and gain consensus

Posted Min Pay Rate USD $94,011.00/Yr. Posted Max Pay Rate USD $104,200.00/Yr. Pay Transparency Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related considerations.
