DescriptionThe AVP Financial Well Being is responsible for developing and leading strategies that promote financial wellbeing among the credit union's employees and members. This role involves overseeing programs, resources, and educational initiatives aimed at improving the financial wellbeing journey of the credit union's employees and members. This position works closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that products, services, and educational tools align with the credit union's mission to support financial wellbeing and enhance overall financial health. Additionally, the role assumes the responsibility for planning and initiating strategies to increase visibility and growth of the program.

This role involves overseeing programs, resources, and educational initiatives aimed at improving the financial wellbeing journey of the credit union's employees and members. This position works closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that products, services, and educational tools align with the credit union's mission to support financial wellbeing and enhance overall financial health. Additionally, the role assumes the responsibility for planning and initiating strategies to increase visibility and growth of the program.Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial education programs aimed at improving financial literacy and the financial wellbeing of our employees and members through education, counseling and services.
  • Lead the design and execution of financial wellbeing programs including workshops, webinars, financial education materials, digital delivery for anytime access, and one-on-one counseling services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of financial well-being initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize employee and member engagement and impact.
  • Develop key performance indicators to track and measure the success of financial wellbeing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with branch and department managers to achieve organizational efficiencies in deploying financial counseling throughout our organization, i.e. Special Accounts and Lending in offering financial counseling to past-due membership, creating opportunities for loan consolidations while protecting the interests of Meritrust.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial coaching certification (CCUFC) for employees organization wide. Provide support to Financial Well Being champions throughout the organization.
  • Regularly report on the progress of financial wellness programs, including member participation, outcomes, and feedback to the executive team through monthly reports to the board.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on the status of financial wellbeing efforts.
  • Communicate with branch and member-serving staff about financial counseling best practices, procedures and referral guidelines.
  • Educate employees on financial wellbeing topics such as budgeting and debt management while creating and developing an intentional focus on Spend, Save, Borrow and Plan.
  • Cultivate relationships with community partners in coordination with business development to serve as a liaison to organizations and businesses interested in advocacy for the financial wellbeing movement.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the financial wellbeing team, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver effective support and education to employees and members.
  • Develop key performance indicators to track and measure the success of financial wellbeing initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the FWB team to enhance their knowledge and ability to support their career growth in financial wellbeing initiatives.
  • Continually research current financial counseling/financial literacy practices.
  • Oversee the creation and delivery of the summer financial camps in all markets, focusing on non-profit and community partnerships when possible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Relevant financial counseling certification through ACU or equivalent organization.
Required Knowledge
  • Strong financial planning and budgeting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, coupled with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Experience Required
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in financial counseling, education or financial literacy programs.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of financial industry experience, preferably within business and community development preferred.
  • Experience in program development and management.
