Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Develop a profitable book of property insurance business for US domiciled upper middle market and middle market accounts within the region, under the guidance of South East Region Property management and within company guidelines.
- Create business plans with our Distribution division to achieve targeted production with key wholesale brokers and identify occupancy classes to target.
- Maintain relationships with approved wholesale brokers, including regional travels, presentations, and training on our new products.
- Underwrite, maintain, and grow a profitable book of non-admitted property market business with wholesale brokers. Evaluate submissions, analyze exposures, determine pricing, and negotiate final property insurance products.
- Monitor portfolio metrics and identify business opportunities to differentiate the company.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Active listening, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills for developing broker relationships.
- Strong communication skills, including business writing and oral presentations.
- Business acumen to understand performance metrics and develop profitable growth strategies.
- Experience with shared and layered property accounts and negotiating Manuscript forms.
- Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data manipulation.
- Knowledge of CAT Modeling parameters to assess exposures and calculate rates.
- Understanding of risk selection, risk assessment, and reinsurance placement.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Risk Management, Engineering, or related fields.
- Industry-specific designations like CPCU & ARM are advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of property underwriting experience handling upper middle and middle market accounts, including at least 3 years at a non-admitted carrier.
