Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill an Avionics Hardware Engineering Manager job for our direct client in Austin, TX. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for the development, production, testing, and integration of avionics systems for Firefly's space vehicles. This is a hands-on management position that combines technical contribution with leadership responsibilities. You will oversee schedules, track progress, manage vendor relationships, and foster strong cross-functional communication to ensure that all avionics hardware meets performance, quality, and timeline expectations.

Avionics Hardware Engineering Manager Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of avionics hardware architecture and design concepts across launch vehicle programs
• Develop task lists, assign resources, and maintain project schedules to meet company objectives
• Track engineering milestones and adjust plans to ensure on-time delivery
• Manage external vendors and contractors to meet technical and scheduling requirements
• Actively contribute to hardware development in areas such as circuit design, harness development, and systems integration
• Conduct QA/QC checks and ensure all hardware meets reliability standards for aerospace systems
• Facilitate effective communication across teams and provide mentorship to engineers and technicians
• Support integration, testing, and launch operations as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• At least seven years of experience in the design and development of high-reliability electronic hardware
• Strong knowledge of avionics components, including RF systems, command and control, power systems, and harnessing
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing project timelines and technical deliverables
• Background working with external vendors and managing subcontractor performance
• Skilled in leading technical teams, facilitating collaboration, and delivering results
• Willingness to travel to support integration, testing, and launch events
