To understand system thinking and apply that knowledge to AVID implementation, refinement, and sustainability through measured impact. The AVID Site Coordinator actively supports the development of a mission and vision-driven approach to leadership motivated by the why and rooted in the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework. Together with District Departments, Administrators and classroom teachers, the AVID Site Coordinator will create and nurture an intentional culture on a campus that aligns to the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework and ensures students get what they need.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:INSTRUCTION:
  • Understand the alignment between WICOR and other instructional strategies and programs on campus.
  • Understand the connection between WICOR and rigor and model the use of WICOR strategies to increase the rigor of classroom instruction.
  • Engage in AVID professional learning opportunities to stay up to date on instructional practices and advancements with the AVID College and Career Readiness System.
  • Participate as an active member of the campus' instructional leadership team, planning support for the effective use of AVID strategies across the campus.
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of AVID professional learning by selecting appropriate AVID professional learning modules to support site goals.
SYSTEMS:
  • Execute defined approaches to continuous improvement that incorporate AVID resources to ensure data-informed decision-making and improved results.
  • Manage the site's Coaching and Certification Instrument (CCI) coaching, planning, and evidence gathering through communication and site team meetings.
  • Monitor the quality implementation of the AVID elective, including ongoing improvement of the AVID tutorial process.
  • Assist in aligning schoolwide initiatives/goals with AVID schoolwide support.
  • Utilize the Site Team Months at a Glance to systemize quality implementation and sustainability of AVID.
LEADERSHIP:
  • Participate as a member of the instructional leadership team to align campus goals and Schoolwide AVID under the direction of the school principal and AVID District Director.
  • Assist the AVID Site Team Months at a Glance, CCI, data collection, and other relevant AVID resources.
  • Assist with best practices of WICOR and alignment of schoolwide student support through AVID strategies.
  • Facilitate the connection between theories of AVID and the actions on the campus.
CULTURE:
  • Work with leadership to evaluate campus culture and identify ways to improve the college and career readiness environment for all students.
  • Support and model the four key elements of the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework: Insist on Rigor, Break Down Barriers, Align the Work, and Advocate for Students.
  • Provide opportunities and awareness to address the college/career-readiness needs of students, family, and the community.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to support teachers in the development of WICOR Strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the building principal. Interacts with administrators, teachers, support staff, students and parents.Develop and maintain positive and cooperative interactions and communication with school staff, clients, and the community.WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed primarily indoors with some requirements for outdoor supervision and activities. The individual is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch. There is occasionally reaching and lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS: Successful job incumbents will demonstrate a level of knowledge, skills and abilities as listed below.Education and Experience: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution. Specific endorsements may be required if teaching a specialized subject. Have obtained and have been trained in a variety of Communities of Practices (Strands) Knowledge of relevant technology.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Licenses/Special Requirements: Washington State Teaching Certification with appropriate endorsement. Valid Washington State Drivers license. Social Security Card.
