Title:AV Systems TechnicianDepartment:Media Technology Support ServicesReports To:Director, Media and Technology Support ServicesPosition Type:StaffPosition Summary:The AV Systems Technician will providefirst-level user support for AV systems in classrooms, meeting, and eventspaces, as well as operational support for events and video productions.Additionally, this position will participate in ongoing maintenance of AVequipment and systems used in support of these functions.Due to the nature of events held at NJIT, this position will require a flexibleschedule, which may include nights and weekends.Essential Functions:First-Level Support & Training:- Provide prompt and effective technical support for AV systems in classrooms,meeting rooms, and event spaces.- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to audio, video, projection, controlsystems, and other AV systems and equipment.- Provide training and guidance on the operation of AV systems, troubleshootingtechniques, and best practices.Maintenance:- Perform routine maintenance and testing of AV equipment to ensure optimalperformance and reliability.Event Support:- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot AV systems during events, conferences, andvideo productions, including cameras, switchers, teleprompters, and mixers.Documentation and Reporting:- Maintain accurate records of AV equipment inventory, service requests, andtechnical documentation.Prerequisite Qualifications:-Bachelor's degree in communications, electrical ormechanical engineering, computer science, information technology, or a relatedfield.-Proven experience in supporting AV systems, preferably in an educational orcorporate environment.-Strong knowledge of audiovisual equipment, including projectors, displays,sound systems, control systems, video conferencing tools, and recordingequipment.-Proficiency in troubleshooting common AV-related issues and resolvingtechnical problems.-Familiarity with industry-standard AV protocols (HDMI, VGA, SDI, etc.) andsignal distribution systems.-Ability to operate video production equipment, including cameras, switchers,mixers, and editing software.-Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with users ofvarying technical knowledge.-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisitesmay be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of theuniversity, an equivalent combination of education and experience specificallypreparing the candidate for success in the position.Salary Information:In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate for this position is $25.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.FLSA:Non-ExemptPart-Time
