Technology Consultant – Audiovisual (AV) Subject Matter Expert

Vantage Technology Consulting Group is looking for an Audiovisual (AV) Subject Matter Expert with at least 5 years of professional working experience in AV systems and infrastructure design to join our team. We are specifically looking for someone with strong design skills in AV, and experience and familiarity with structured cabling, security, and other technology and low voltage systems in education and healthcare technology environments. We are a fully remote organization however applicants located in southern California are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You Will Do

You will report to the Director of Engineering within our Design and Engineering business unit. As a subject matter expert focusing on AV systems and infrastructure, you will work with our clients, architects, and other Vantage team members to provide technology design services. You will also assist with other technology systems, including security, structured cabling (IT), low voltage, classroom, and healthcare technologies. In particular, you will:

  • Provide design of audiovisual systems for healthcare, higher education, corporate, and other market sectors.
  • Attend, and lead technical meetings, conduct design review sessions, and participate in the QA/QC process for your work and the work of team members.
  • Interpret architectural drawings/specifications, models, and construction documents.
  • Answer and review construction submittals and RFIs (request for information) from audiovisual integrators, general contractors, and other entities.
  • Be responsible for technology design recommendations and design decisions in coordination with project design teams.
  • Work within a project team to understand client needs and goals, and build familiarity with each client's Basis of Design standards, scope, budget, and schedule for assigned tasks.
  • Work with our production team to create audiovisual and technology construction packages.
  • Work with our other subject matter experts within the firm to coordinate work and standards as required for each project.
  • Maintain existing and add new industry certifications (as appropriate), and continue to develop technical and “soft” skills and learning.
  • Document design decisions, meeting notes, and client standards
  • Provide quality assurance and quality control reviews of other projects in the firm
What You Will Need

Basic Qualifications:

  • Five years of professional work experience in AV systems and infrastructure design.
  • Capable of independently leading discussions and technology visioning sessions with our clients.
  • Experience with producing audiovisual signal diagrams and equipment lists.
  • Experience with higher education, healthcare, commercial, or industrial design and construction projects.
  • Familiarity with the design and milestone delivery phases in the production of construction documents and specifications.
  • Knowledge of AV design standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Familiar with major audiovisual manufacturer's product lines and industry preferred solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate in a remote-working, fast-paced team environment with all levels of coworkers, peers, and clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
  • Avixa CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D (preferred), or equivalent licenses and qualifications.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $84,000 to $105,000 per year

Schedule: Flexible hours, with an expectation of 40 hours per week.

Education: Bachelor's or equivalent experience

Experience: Five years of technical experience in higher education, healthcare, commercial, or industrial design and construction projects.

Travel Required: Occasional travel to client sites or project sites may be required.
