Potential Compensation: $100,000 – $200,000 (Salary + Bonus)

We are seeking an experienced and driven Automotive Controller to oversee the financial operations of two high-performing, locally-owned dealerships. Position Overview

The Controller is a key dealership executive and business partner to the General Manager. The Controller is responsible for exercising sound judgment to make independent discretionary decisions regarding the dealership's overall financial and office workflow. The Controller implements control to ensure compliance with the Company's policies. The Controller directs the office staff to ensure assigned tasks' timely completion and accuracy.

You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance, financial health, and operational success, while upholding the values and family culture of our dealerships.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with Group guidelines and OEM standards.
  • Provide support to all departments to produce increased revenue, control expenses; contribute to customer satisfaction and excellent associate satisfaction.
  • Submit tax reporting monthly and oversee all receivables, including OEM accounts (warranty claims, rebates, co-op) and CITs.
  • Interpret and analyze financial statements, daily operating controls, and expense trends; communicate with the General Managers.
  • Review and reconcile scheduled accounts monthly; reconcile bank accounts daily.
  • Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and promote best practices across assigned dealerships.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor accounting staff (A/R, A/P, billing/deal posting, license & title) while ensuring accuracy and adherence to proper procedures.
  • Audit balance sheets and schedules regularly, addressing potential liabilities.
  • Prepare reconciliation of all dealership balance sheet accounts and purify reconciling items every month.
  • Review every schedule in the dealership every month and make necessary corrections.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience in a senior accounting role (automotive dealership experience required).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel – advanced, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with dealership management systems (Reynolds & Reynolds).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and budgeting skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
