Georgia-Pacific Wood Products, LLC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Automation Engineer for the Plywood Division. This role combines hands-on technical work, project support, and talent development in electrical and controls skills across 7 plywood manufacturing facilities in East Texas, Arkansas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Georgia.

The position can be remote within the Southeast US, near one or more Plywood locations, with travel up to 75%.

Relocation assistance and a company vehicle are available.

What You Will Do

  • Provide safety leadership and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure automation systems operate reliably, efficiently, and safely.
  • Support troubleshooting of PLCs, vision systems, electrical distribution, robotics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop electrical and controls capabilities through training and mentorship.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational value.
  • Assist with capital project implementation.
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis when needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience managing automation and capital projects (budgets over $2M).
  • Experience supervising multiple sites and managing projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs, industrial robots, servo drives, and control system design.
  • Willing to travel up to 75%.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with PLCs, drives, PCs, and networks.
  • Experience with industrial robots (ABB, Kuka, Fanuc).
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards (NFPA 70e).
  • Analytical skills to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, and familiarity with lumber/wood products is a plus.

Salary ranges from $130,000 to $150,000, with potential variable bonuses.
