This position is responsible for all aspects of the facilities needs for automation, fixturing, and secondary equipment. This includes quoting, designing, installing, programming, debugging, and troubleshooting. The Automation Engineer is also responsible for being the main contact or assisting others, in the development and managing of outside vendors used to develop the above equipment when necessary. This position will also assist the engineering, maintenance, production, and assembly departments in maintaining the proper safety measures, training on correct operation and maintenance, and participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement activities related to the above equipment and the products or processes they are used on. Schedule & Compensation: Plastech Corporation pays on a weekly basis. This position is scheduled Monday thru Friday. Hours Available:
- 1st Shift · 7:00am to 3:30pm
Salary Range: $75,000 to $80,000 per year DOQ. Essential Functions:
- Work with Project Engineers, Assembly Department, and Maintenance Department on the design, quoting, installation, documentation, and startup of automation equipment.
- Assist in creating equipment preventative maintenance schedules, developing work cell layouts, and troubleshooting current equipment.
- Conduct training on existing and new equipment, ensuring safety and ergonomic standards are adhered to.
- Utilize the in-house tool room to create and modify fixtures and workstation components.
- Assist Engineering and Estimating in developing costs for quoting automation or accessory equipment.
- Participate in the Plastech Safety Committee and Corrective Action Team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):Knowledge, Education, Experience and/or Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED, three to five years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) use and programming ability is required.
- Experience with 3D CAD software is desired; SolidWorks or Creo (Pro-E) is preferred.
- Knowledge of molding processes and related support processes and secondary operations of plastics is desirable. (robotics, fixture and tooling design, vision systems, molding, welding, machining, joining, and assembly methods)
- Experience in project management and ergonomics is desired.
Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional PC skills, including Manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Picture Packet, IOP, procedure manual, and safety rules.
- Ability to present information to and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply abstract concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
