OverviewOur client is seeking an Automation Engineer III to support the design, development, monitoring, maintenance, and documentation of automated equipment and control systems. This includes PLC programming, Building Management Systems, and environmental/monitoring systems such as chambers, particle measurement, building controls, and equipment. This position provides technical and automation support across equipment, facility, laboratory, and manufacturing systems, ensuring systems are maintained in proper working order through collaboration with internal teams and external contractors.
OverviewOur client is seeking an Automation Engineer III to support the design, development, monitoring, maintenance, and documentation of automated equipment and control systems. This includes PLC programming, Building Management Systems, and environmental/monitoring systems such as chambers, particle measurement, building controls, and equipment. This position provides technical and automation support across equipment, facility, laboratory, and manufacturing systems, ensuring systems are maintained in proper working order through collaboration with internal teams and external contractors.Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain automation systems in a validated state; serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for change controls.
- Provide technical support for pharmaceutical manufacturing, utilities, and building/equipment control systems.
- Act as a system owner or SME for automation systems and associated computer infrastructure.
- Ensure building and equipment controls, including monitoring systems and automation platforms, remain compliant with GMP and ISO 9001 standards.
- Support and manage automation platforms, including Rockwell Automation, EBI, iFix SCADA, Wonderware SCADA, and JCI Metasys Building Management Systems.
- Develop and review validation documentation such as IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols for automation systems.
- Analyze system data, prepare reports, and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
- Lead automation and control projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution.
- Identify and resolve quality issues in automation and controls.
- Provide on-call support during after-hours and weekends for manufacturing operations as needed.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement using Lean methodologies.
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Participate in annual hazardous waste training and respond to chemical spills per site protocols.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficient in PLCs, HMIs, SCADA (iFix/Wonderware), and data management systems.
- Knowledge of GMP and ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical writing and documentation review capabilities.
- Able to identify deviations and ensure compliance.
- Effective in both independent and collaborative settings.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of automation experience in a regulated environment (GMP preferred).
- Experience designing, programming, and maintaining DCS, SCADA, HMI, PLC, and data systems.
- Familiarity with Rockwell Automation, EBI, Delta Controls Orcaview, and JCI Metasys systems preferred.
- 2+ years' experience with SQL database management and VB/C++ programming preferred.
- Experience with user interfaces such as Allen Bradley PanelView or PanelView Plus.
- Database design and maintenance experience is a plus.

- Expected salary range is $120K to $140K/year.
