Senior Technical Recruiter with Lorenz Engineering

This Automation/Control Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position located in Naperville, IL, focused on developing and maintaining advanced control systems within a utility-sector manufacturing environment. The position plays a critical role in designing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) platforms. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of industrial automation experience, particularly within assembly-based environments, and be comfortable working hands-on in a startup setting with new equipment and evolving processes. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required, and familiarity with utility infrastructure, substations, or renewable energy is highly valued.

In addition to technical competencies, the role requires collaboration across engineering, operations, and IT teams to ensure scalable and compliant automation solutions. Responsibilities include system documentation, failure analysis, regulatory compliance (NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E), and support for commissioning and optimization projects. This is a high-impact opportunity suited for a self-motivated engineer who enjoys building systems from scratch and contributing to process efficiency and safety. The compensation package includes a competitive salary ranging from $100K to $130K.

What You'll Do:

• Develop and maintain control systems for utility infrastructure and automated assembly lines
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
• Lead root cause analysis, drive preventive and corrective maintenance strategies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system design, upgrades, and documentation

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of industrial automation experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, Rockwell, or Siemens platforms
• Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, and utility-related equipment
• Experience in automated assembly processes is required
• Exposure to utilities, substations, or renewable energy is a plus
