Job Summary: We are looking for a talented Automation Controls Engineer to join our Shelby Township, MI team. This pivotal role involves participating in exciting projects while providing top-notch software development for our industrial automation solutions. The ideal candidate will engage in both hands-on and software tasks, working closely with customers to ensure successful installations and interactions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop PLC software and HMIs for cutting-edge automation equipment.
  • Handle debugging and troubleshooting of PLC software and HMIs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and milestones.
  • Maintain organized task lists and detailed reports of ongoing items.
  • Document project designs and prepare deliverables for customers.
  • Adhere to and monitor the controls engineering process.
  • Assist customers and local teams in troubleshooting equipment issues efficiently.
  • Provide engaging end-user training on equipment operation.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering degree preferred; mechatronics degrees will be considered.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in controls engineering is required.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, schematic reading, design, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electrical CAD systems, such as AutoCAD Electrical and/or ePLAN.
  • Proficient in using Rockwell Logix 5000 or Siemens S7-1500 family processors.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as VB, C/C++, or C# is preferred.
  • Experienced in PLC programming using ladder logic and structured text.
  • Familiar with programming HMIs (Rockwell and Siemens preferred).
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Willing to travel approximately 30% for domestic and international projects.
  • Flexibility for weekend work based on project needs.
