About the Role We're looking for a Controls and Automation Engineer to join a leading food manufacturing team that values innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement. In this role, you'll be the go-to expert for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated control systems that drive production efficiency, ensure food safety, and minimize downtime. This is a critical role with high visibility across operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to support manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement automation solutions that enhance throughput, quality, and safety.
- Develop and update control system documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic, and network architecture.
- Support capital projects, including equipment upgrades and new line installations, with automation and controls expertise.
- Evaluate and implement IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) technologies to support Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and industry regulations.
- Train and support maintenance technicians and operators on automation equipment and controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering within the food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing sector.
- Proficient in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI/SCADA development.
- Strong understanding of industrial networks, sensors, drives, and instrumentation.
- Familiar with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and project management abilities.
