About the Role We're looking for a Controls and Automation Engineer to join a leading food manufacturing team that values innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement. In this role, you'll be the go-to expert for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated control systems that drive production efficiency, ensure food safety, and minimize downtime. This is a critical role with high visibility across operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems to support manufacturing operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement automation solutions that enhance throughput, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and update control system documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic, and network architecture.
  • Support capital projects, including equipment upgrades and new line installations, with automation and controls expertise.
  • Evaluate and implement IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) technologies to support Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and industry regulations.
  • Train and support maintenance technicians and operators on automation equipment and controls.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering within the food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing sector.
  • Proficient in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks, sensors, drives, and instrumentation.
  • Familiar with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and project management abilities.
