As the Attendance Specialist in the COMPASS Division of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will support COMPASS, schools and districts with high quality, relevant, and timely guidance related to attendance. Duties will include:
Provide leadership in developing and implementing professional development and outreach activities around attendance practices for district and school leaders.
Develop processes for aligning data-informed decision-making options with attendance initiatives in collaboration with COMPASS and local staff.
Provide consultation and implementation support on attendance initiatives and related program needs.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to help integrate attendance strategies into the MnMTSS framework, foster cross-content collaboration, and deliver flexible support to district and school leaders.
Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of professional experience with attendance improvement initiatives or related programs
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree in education, social work or a related field and four (4) years of professional experience with attendance improvement initiatives or related programs
Experience must include:
Coordinating and delivering professional development for diverse audiences
Using attendance data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
Organizational and time management skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Ten (10) or more years of experience working in a K-12 education setting, including direct experience developing or implementing attendance initiatives or programs in K-12 education settings
Experience developing and implementing initiatives within a multi-tiered system of supports framework
Experience coaching and leading others to achieve organizational or educational goals
