Position Type: Paraprofessional/Attendance Paraprofessional Date Posted: 8/18/2025 Location: SALEM HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT: General Education PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT: Attendance Paraprofessional LOCATION: Salem High School HOURS: 37.5 hours per week 6:30am - 2:30pm *Report to primary assignment daily, but may be assigned to other duties or positions within general education based on day to day building and program needs. JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the completion of school office-related tasks as directed by the principal, completes all student attendance related tasks, monitors and processes student absences, runs and provides attendance data, serves as a backup or support to other Class II paraprofessionals in the main office of the school, and supports other school office tasks as directed by the building principal. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School graduate or equivalent 2. Demonstrate ability to work with parents and students. 3. Knowledge of general office procedures 4. Interpersonal and judgmental skills necessary to work effectively with parents, staff, and public in person and on the phone. 5. Proficient telephone manner and public relations skills 6. Good attendance record. 7. Possess excellent organizational skills 8. Ability to maintain confidential information. 9. Computer experience. 10. Possess excellent oral and written communication. 11. Ability to set, manage and coordinate priorities. 12. Ability to take initiative and work independently without supervision. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Receives absence calls and messages from parents. 2. Initiates parent contacts regarding student absences. 3. Programs phone system for afternoon parent notifications. 4. Shares pertinent attendance related information with counselors/administrators. 5. Collects attendance reports from teachers and verifies accuracy for local and state reporting. 6. Runs daily/weekly attendance reports from MiStar. 7. Inputs attendance information. 8. Assists in all phases of attendance policy implementation. 9. Bending, lifting, and overhead work required. 10. Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students. 11. Assists with other duties as assigned. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
