Athletics And Campus Recreation Manager Opportunity

What You'll Do
As Athletics and Campus Recreation Manager, you'll have the chance to supervise, direct and evaluate operations, programs and services delivered through Campus Recreation and Lifetime Sports, including fitness center/gym, aerobics/dance rooms, gym courts, personal training, health and wellness programs, and intramurals and club sports.
Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for:
Program Development & Operations:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement Athletic, Campus Recreation and Intramural Sports programs, including Esports and community-based partnerships.
- Oversee operations and services of the Lifetime Sports Complex, including scheduling, maintenance, equipment purchasing, and facility setup for athletics and campus recreation.
- Schedule and manage all athletic event operations, ensuring compliance with state, local, and institutional policies.
- Evaluate and enhance recreational and intramural programs through leadership development, promotions, and participant feedback.
- Develop maintenance schedules for Lifetime Sports equipment and conduct training clinics for officials.
Staff Management & Leadership:
- Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and certify professional, part-time, and student staff for athletics, intramurals, recreation, and facility operations.
- Ensure staff hold current CPR/First Aid certifications and adhere to departmental standards.
- Foster leadership skills and promote staff development within recreation and athletic programs.
Strategic Planning & Compliance:
- Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to develop and implement strategic goals for the athletics department.
- Monitor and maintain student-athlete academic progress and eligibility for FCSAA and NJCAA compliance.
- Assist with booster club growth and fundraising, including planning alumni and sponsorship events.
- Develop, implement, and maintain risk management, liability, and safety policies, procedures, and training manuals.
Outreach, Communication & Professional Engagement:
- Represent the department at student orientations, classroom visits, and campus events, promoting engagement in extracurricular activities.
- Present at workshops and conferences and maintain active professional memberships, including NIRSA.
- Collaborate with college departments and external organizations to enhance program visibility and partnerships.
- Develop community service outreach programs for the Athletics department to partake in.
- Collaborate with outside establishments to generate partnerships for involvement with athletic events.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical/Health Education, Student Personnel or related field.
- Four (4) years of work experience.
- Requires experience with budget development, management, and fiscal reporting. Experience hosting and managing successful events and supervising staff are also required.
- New hires must possess CPR/First Aid Certification or be able to obtain instructor rating within first six months of employment.
- A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Recreation, Management, College Student Personnel, or a related area is preferred and may substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Progressive leadership and administrative experience within a college's Athletics Department is highly preferred.
