Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist and collaborate with the Sports Medicine team, including physicians, physical therapists, and other medical professionals, to provide comprehensive care across different care settings

  • Support UHS Sports Medicine with additional duties as assigned by the Sports Medicine Field Manager

  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment to ensure availability and readiness for athletic training needs

  • Maintain and monitor budgets related to the athletic training program to support efficient resource use

  • Assist in updating the School's Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and injury protocols annually to maintain current safety standards

  • Ensure athletic equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and meets all safety requirements to protect athlete well‐being

  • Coordinate coverage for high‐risk sports in collaboration with the Athletic Director and UHS Sports Medicine Field Manager to provide adequate on‐site support

  • Participate in community outreach programs, including delivering athletic training services, educational initiatives, and pre‐season screening programs to promote athlete health and safety

  • Provide clinical athletic training services including comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment plans, evidence‐based interventions, emergency response, collaborative care, and patient education

  • Document and maintain accurate records of athletic training services, assessments, and treatments, submitting required paperwork timely to the UHS Sports Medicine Field Manager

  • Provide athletic training services at designated educational institutions and assist with alternative coverage as needed to ensure consistent care

  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly staff meetings and maintain continuing education requirements in accordance with National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification guidelines

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or Masters of Science degree at an institution with National Athletic Training Association approved curriculum.

  • National certification through the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC)

  • Licensed or license‐eligible by New York State.

  • CPR certification within the first three months of employment.

Preferred:

  • Experience as an ATC (Certified Athletic Trainer) in a college or high school setting.

  • National certification through theBoard of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC)

Work Environment

  • Material Handling:
  • Occasionally applies various therapy modalities. Occasionally lifting from floor to waist and from waist to shoulder 21‐50lbs; lifting 11‐20 lbs. overhead. Occasionally carrying, pushing, and pulling 21‐50 lbs.
  • Positional Tolerance:
  • Frequent standing, and occasional sitting and walking. Frequently bending forward, stooping, reaching forward, squatting, crouching and occasional kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders.
  • This position occasionally reaches above shoulder height, twists at the hips, and grasps heavy items. This position rarely performs fine motor skills, balance, and pinching activity.
  • Requires constant hearing and frequent talking.
  • Frequently requires far acuity; occasionally requires near acuity, depth perception, and adjustment of eye to sharp focus. Rarely requires color vision.
