- Maintain instrument landing system, TACAN ground station, UHF and VHF radio receivers, transmitters and antenna systems, voice switching network, digital audio recorder, and various air traffic control information systems
- Document all maintenance actions and requirements in written and digital logs
- Troubleshoot to component level utilizing electronic schematics, flow charts, technical manuals and test equipment
- Order and return parts through the Air National Guard supply system
- Maintain electronic technical order library with periodic updates
- Drive in a controlled airfield environment observing radio instructions
- Perform standby duties outside of normal business hours
- Maintain test equipment calibration and repair routine
- Work with outside agencies to support specialty maintenance teams and equipment upgrades
- Conduct periodic quality and safety inspections
- Perform basic interior and exterior facility maintenance
Requirements Education
Experience
- Must have a minimum of three years' documented experience in ATC Radio, Meteorological, or Navigational Aids equipment.
- Must have a thorough background in basic electronics and formal training in communication electronics
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, an FCC Radiotelephone Operators License within 6 months
Technical Skills
- Must be proficient with various test equipment to include: RF peak power meters, DVMs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency meters, and attenuators
- Must be familiar with the Military Technical Order System
- Be capable of component level repairs requiring through-hole and surface mount soldering
- Be able to quickly learn to maintain unfamiliar systems with limited training.
Skills/Other Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Show a history of working with little or no supervision
- Have strong computer skills including familiarity with older Windows versions (3.1 and higher), DOS, MS Office; network administration experience a plus.
- Show familiarity with telecommunication principles and troubleshooting techniques.
- Must be medically approved to lift 50 pounds and be able to efficiently climb stairs and ladders
- Must have or be able to obtain climbing certification, tower experience a plus
- Must have or be able to obtain Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance
- Possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
