ASU Production Technician - Mt. Vernon - Matheson Tri-Gas : Job Details

JOB SUMMARYResponsible for Maintaining and Improving Plant performance.This is typically a non-shift work position although situations may requirework outside normal shift. Performance Technician will perform mechanical,instrument and electrical maintenance. See skill set listed below.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManipulates air separation controls to meet productspecifications and production requirementsAdjust plant control variables, monitor and manage processequipment parameters to meet production goals.Obtain knowledge base of the theory of air separation andrelated equipment associated with the process; understand the plant's waterchemistry to assure proper cooling tower operations and equipment functioning.Develop skills to trouble shoot, evaluate process upsets andtake corrective actions.Must maintain Qualified Electrical Worker certificationPerforms maintenance on compressors, pumps, turbines,valves, motors, and other plant equipment, when required.Reads and interprets technical drawings and manuals.Develop ability to interpret Process & InstrumentDrawings to understand process operations, equipment and aid in troubleshooting system anomalies.Participate in the maintenance/updating of work instructionsto assure accurate and current start-up and operational procedures.Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipmentperformance, perform routine calibration and maintenance of analytical testequipment and maintain appropriate records.Be safety conscious, i.e., meetings, work areas, eliminatehazards, etc.Ability to prepare and maintain production operations anddistribution records to meet the requirements of FDA, DPA, OSHA, ISO QualitySystems and other internal and external requirements.Participate in the maintenance and updating of plant andequipment work instructions.Prepare and maintain production operations and distributionrecords to meet internal and external requirements.Prepare QA documents to certify product quality;transcribe/transfer data from process computer data bases and tables, etc. toprepare product loss and reports.Good communication skills (inter departmental, team members,vendors, etc.Responsible for reviewing and releasing medical gradeproduct per FDA regulations.Troubleshooting the causes of plant operational issues andalarms, either directly or in conjunction with the local team.Assisting with starting / stopping the plants in a safemanner as dictated by operating conditions and business needs.Optimizing plant performance by tracking performance dataand implement the best operating plan for all plants.Executing productivity ideas and Best Practices to keepplant costs down.Interacting closely with all the supporting groups/personnelfor performance optimization and troubleshooting.Perform other projects and duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standardsEDUCATIONHigh School diploma, Technical School or related industrialexperienceEXPERIENCE1-3 years Compressors, pumps, valves and expanders, alsoInstrument & electrical testing equipment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,& ABILITIESBasic Computer skills.On call for plant needs of any kind, (Personnel, Equipment,Customer problems) Statistical and analytical skills.Clean driving record.Strong understanding of Safety Practices and policies forthe Industrial Gas IndustryStrong understanding of Air Separation PrinciplesStrong understanding of compressors, pumps and expandersStrong understanding of electrical motors, electrical powerdistribution and electrical safety.Possess skills to utilize I&E test equipment, includingDVM, megger, process calibrator, transmitter simulator.Ability to utilize troubleshooting skills on Medium voltagepanels, low voltage panels, Programmable Logic Controllers, field processmeasuring equipment and vibration equipmentUnderstanding of Analytical principles.PHYSICALDEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONSStationaryPosition - FREQUENTLYMove/Traverse- FREQUENTLYStationaryPosition/Seated - OCCASIONALLYTransport/Lifting- OCCASIONALLY - 30lbs.Transport/Carrying- OCCASIONALLY - 30lbs.ExertingForce/Pushing - FREQUENTLYExertingForce/Pulling - FREQUENTLYAscend/Descend- FREQUENTLYBalancing -RARELYPositionSelf/Stooping - FREQUENTLYPositionSelf/Kneeling - FREQUENTLYReaching -RARELYHandling -OCCASIONALLYGraspingOCCASIONALLYFeeling -OCCASIONALLYCommunicate/Talking- FREQUENTLYCommunicate/Hearing- FREQUENTLYRepetitiveMotions - OCCASIONALLYCoordination- OCCASIONALLYTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:10% Travel for scheduled Training where applicable.The Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer that complieswith the laws and regulations set forth under EEOC.
