Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition.

In this role, the successful candidate will oversee all functions of the Food & Nutrition Department under the support and oversight of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services, to provide continuous, high-quality service in a cost-effective manner to enhance patient, guest, and staff satisfaction and support service excellence.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the organization's core values and incorporate them into duties.
  • Ensure the superior operation of the patient meal delivery system, including rounding on patient units and interacting with patients for continuous improvement.
  • Regularly audit systems to ensure quality and safety parameters are met.
  • Maintain food temperatures and temperature recordings.
  • Prepare and maintain reports/audits for patient services, such as test trays, tray accuracy, pantry or diet aide audits, and HACCP inspections.
  • Respond to patients of all ages in a friendly, prompt, and caring manner while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Partner with team members to meet patient needs.
  • Act as a liaison and facilitate problem-solving with patient care units and departmental subunits.
  • Maintain a sanitary, safe, and efficient operation in accordance with The Joint Commission and all regulations.
  • Assist in staff selection, orientation, training, and evaluation to ensure competency and professional development with a customer service focus.
  • Manage departmental staff with the support of the Director.
  • Monitor and coach performance-related matters.
  • Conduct or assist with performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in developing and managing budgets, including resource utilization, cost savings, and revenue strategies.
  • Develop a comprehensive quality improvement/assurance program to evaluate and improve organizational performance.
  • Ensure completion of all departmental audits and QA activities.
  • Participate in quarterly regulator departmental tracers and follow-up.
  • Review, revise, and develop departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist with parameter development for software programs to automate nutrition and food service systems.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management, Food Service Management, Dietetics, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of progressive managerial operations experience. ServSafe Certification (to be completed within the first six months of hire).

    Required Licenses:

    ServSafe Certification.

    Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organizational levels.

    Salary range: $95,637.61 - $114,272.00 annually, dependent on experience, education, and hospital needs. This range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
