Duties & Responsibilities - Service Management and Delivery
- Administering services with a focus on reliability and stability to deliver a trusted campus level service set.
- Ensuring completion of daily operations, environment upgrades, updates and patching, and hardware/software issues.
- Monitoring and resolving issues that disrupt regular operations and escalating to management and other teams as needed.
- Provide written documentation for all services managed by this position.
- Maintain current knowledge of security related issues that may affect the services provided.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to IT infrastructure.
- Research new technologies and analyze for fit and value to environment.
- Demonstrates day-to-day adherence with change control precepts and practices.
- Systems Engineer Level: Administering and managing services with a focus on reliability and stability to deliver a trusted campus level service set.
- Service Development and Planning
- Analyzing customer needs and interpreting how services provide those solutions for those needs.
- Developing enhancements and improvements for the service set to keep relevance as technology and needs change.
- Implementing new methods of providing services based on customer need and technical evolution.
- Systems Engineer Level: Improving service delivery through automation/orchestration of the service environment.
- Business and Vendor Relations
- Ensuring procurement requirements and recurring administrative functions are addressed in partnership with relevant business personnel.
- Reporting customer usage on a recurring basis for service billing and cost recovery for the service set in partnership with relevant business personnel.
- Systems Engineer Level: Meeting regularly with new and current vendors to look at roadmaps and new solutions being offered.
- Organizational Support:
- Participating in relevant Technology Services service meetings, as needed.
- Providing subject matter expertise for virtual host and data storage/backup to other service areas and customers.
- Participating in organizational strategic or tactical planning as requested.

Associate Systems Engineer Minimum Qualifications 1. 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. 2. Any one or any combination totaling four (4) years from the following categories: 1. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 1. 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) 2. Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 3. 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) 4. Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) 2. Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. 3. 3. Demonstrated experience with System administration in a largescale Windows or Linux server environment. 4. 4. Demonstrated experience hosting platforms serving diverse systems. 5. 5. Demonstrated experience with two or more common data storage or backup architectures.

- Familiarity with project management concepts to deliver large scale projects in given timelines
- Familiarity with public cloud technologies, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The budgeted salary range for the Associate Systems Engineer position is $97,000.00 to $115,000.00, and the budgeted salary range for the Systems Engineer position is $110,000.00 to $120,000.00.
