Associate/Senior Associate Portfolio Asset Management Team - Special Situations

Overview

One of the top Special Situations Funds are looking to hire a highly ambitious Associate or Senior Associate for their Portfolio and Asset Management team (workout / turnaround). The fund is managed by a highly specialized team, backed by vast resources and robust governance. Their alternative strategy is designed to deliver uncorrelated returns to traditional asset classes. The team have deployed over $2 billion in recent years and have diverse sector coverage, utilizing their network of Senior Investors.

Their Special Situations team continues to experience exponential growth and success and is looking to expand their Portfolio and Asset Management (workout / turnaround) team with the hire for an exceptional Associate or Senior Associate candidate to integrate into a market leading outfit. The Asset Management team builds robust relationships with portfolio companies utilizing a customized process to learn and monitor the intricacies of a business operations and key performance indicators, with the goal of maximization of return for the firm s investment portfolio.

In addition to investment and credit monitoring experience, Associate/Senior Associate candidates will be expected to have strong analytical and modelling skills, business judgment, and the maturity to own and manage multiple monitoring relationships from initial funding to exit.

As an Associate/Senior Associate you will gain a wealth of exposure and involvement to new and existing investments, providing a high level of diligence, hunger and trustworthiness contributing as a vital individual to the continued success of the fund s portfolio team.

The Requirements

  • Associate/Senior Associate candidates must have anywhere from a minimum of 3-8 years of experience working across corporate restructuring, private credit, private equity, distressed debt or special situations, ideally with circa 1-2 years initial foundation of experience from a top tier Investment Bank or Ratings agency;
  • Specific hands-on experience in directly managing workouts, restructurings, and crises management with borrowers and company managers, possessing a keen business acumen and negotiation abilities to contribute to a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment;
  • Interpersonal skills and maturity to communicate effectively with lower middle market management teams and extract actionable intelligence from complex situations;
  • Genuine curiosity, exceptional eye for attention to detail and diligence, and the appetite to develop and learn as a Special Situations Asset Management and master a key relationship building and management skillset
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Ability to build operational and financial models, correlation, valuation, runoff, liquidation, and various other types of analyses with limited supervision;
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the capability to manage multiple complex situations in parallel, understanding the operating requirements of private businesses during growth, evolution and potentially turnaround phases;
  • Ability to understand and negotiate complex credit and other legal agreements;
  • Advanced familiarity with capital structure and corporate debt including: Leveraged Finance; Restructuring; Workouts; Structured Finance; Credit Ratings and ABS;
  • Undergraduate degree required, with a record of academic achievement. Concentration in Finance, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or Sciences preferred;
  • Authorization to work in the United States
