Position SummaryAs an Associate Project Manager, you'll be a key leader driving the successful delivery of high-value, technically complex projects. Acting as the primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and external partners, you'll oversee every phase of project execution-from planning and design through closeout-ensuring excellence in quality, communication, and financial performance.This role is ideal for experienced project managers who are ready to lead with confidence, mentor emerging talent, and shape the future of project delivery. You'll manage a portfolio of projects or programs exceeding $2 million in annual revenue, while also contributing to business development, process improvement, and strategic leadership initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Execution- Lead multiple high-value projects or programs with minimal oversight.
- Oversee all aspects of project delivery including scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in project management processes and tools.
- Guide cross-functional teams through planning, execution, and closeout phases.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
Client Relationship Management- Act as the face of the firm to clients, building trust through transparency and consistent delivery.
- Understand client goals and challenges to deliver tailored, value-driven solutions.
- Maintain proactive communication to manage expectations and resolve issues early.
- Foster long-term partnerships by consistently exceeding expectations and demonstrating value.
Business Development- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Support proposal development, fee structuring, and scope definition.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
- Promote the firm's capabilities and thought leadership in the marketplace.
Team Leadership & Mentorship- Mentor and coach junior project managers and team members to support their professional growth.
- Lead internal training initiatives and contribute to the evolution of project management standards.
- Collaborate with business unit leaders to align project delivery with strategic goals.
Technical Coordination- Maintain a strong understanding of technical requirements to guide project execution.
- Coordinate with design teams, subconsultants, and stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Lead internal meetings, site visits, and progress reviews to keep teams informed and accountable.
Quality Control & Risk Management- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive planning and communication.
- Maintain documentation and compliance with internal project procedures and controls.
Financial Oversight- Drive project profitability, typically targeting a 20% margin.
- Monitor project budgets, labor hours, and financial performance using project management tools.
- Manage contracts, invoicing, and change orders with accuracy and accountability.
- Coordinate with accounting and project controls to ensure financial transparency and performance.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical/business field preferred.
- 10+ years of project management experience, including leadership of complex projects.
- PMP certification or equivalent training preferred; PE license a plus.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage client relationships, and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel and engage directly with clients and stakeholders.
