The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Metrology & Defects Sustaining Engineer (5th Shift) position located at our Linthicum, MD facility.
The Advanced Technology Lab (ATL), part of Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC), located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices and providing leading-edge technology development in Superconducting Electronics and SLCFET.
The Metrology & Defects Sustaining Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:
Maintaining, existing, and developing new in-line defect metrology recipes and techniques.
Assisting with ongoing efforts to integrate in-line defect metrology into our process flows.
Writing and maintaining process documentation.
Partnering with vendors and equipment engineers to drive existing and future tools to meet foundry and program needs.
Supporting statistical process control (SPC), continuous improvement efforts, and the management and dissemination of metrology data.
This position is required to be fully on-site and work 5th shift hours (7PM-7AM, Friday - Sunday).
Basic Qualifications for Associate Metrology & Defect Sustaining Engineer (5th shift):
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 1 year of relevant experience.
General understanding of defect inspection and review tools.
General understanding of metrology or analytical tools.
Must work 5th shift hours (7PM-7AM, Friday - Sunday).
Basic knowledge of statistical process control.
Hands-on experience with Si, GaAs, or other wafers.
1 year experience with semiconductor fabrication.
Ability to work in a cleanroom setting.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
US Citizenship required.
Basic Qualifications for Metrology & Defect Sustaining Metrology Engineer (5th shift):
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 2 years of relevant experience (Masters with 0 years exp).
General understanding of defect inspection and review tools.
General understanding of metrology or analytical tools.
Must work 5th shift hours (7PM-7AM, Friday - Sunday).
Basic knowledge of statistical process control.
Hands-on experience with Si, GaAs, or other wafers.
1 year experience with semiconductor fabrication.
Ability to work in a cleanroom setting.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on knowledge and operation of defect inspection and review tools.
Hands-on knowledge and operation of metrology or analytical tools.
Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology.
Experience working in a cleanroom setting.
Data analysis and visualization (JMP).
Experience developing technical specifications for equipment procurement.
Active Secret clearance.
Salary Range: $70,600 - $106,000
Salary Range 2: $85,400 - $128,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
