LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is a high-growth renewable energy company forging a sustainable future through integrity, innovation, and positive impact. We own and operate 30 large wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the United States, totaling over 3 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

LRE has an ambitious goal of 10GW of operating assets by 2028 and is developing an increasing pipeline of new projects every year. We take a full-lifecycle approach to our projects, built on a long-term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to community partners and environmental protection.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate of LRE's Land Management and Stewardship team. In this role, you will collaborate across functions within LRE to support the development and implementation of comprehensive land stewardship strategies for wind and solar projects. You will also be responsible for tracking internal compliance with Land Stewardship strategies across the company's portfolio.

You will work with the Senior Manager, ESG, and the Senior Land Manager to develop strategies in collaboration with project planners to create renewable energy assets that support local communities, incorporate agrivoltaics where appropriate, conserve wildlife habitat, and support ecosystem diversity. This position involves working closely during early project phases to identify land management constraints and opportunities, and to develop Vegetation and Biodiversity Management Plans based on LRE's templates.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Senior Land Manager and project planners during early project phases to identify site-specific constraints, risks, and opportunities for land stewardship.
  • Develop site-specific Vegetation and Biodiversity Management Plans, monitor their implementation, and update as needed throughout project development.
  • Coordinate vegetation monitoring during spring and conduct site visits to train and oversee land stewardship activities.
  • Manage vegetation data, create databases, and track annual data collection.
  • Assess the need for Chance Find policies, monitor, and report accordingly.
  • Prepare annual and quarterly Land Stewardship reports for each project.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvements, create guidance, and support training efforts.
  • Ensure soil sampling is conducted, manage sample data, and input results into TSIP.
  • Coordinate with environmental compliance teams to meet land management requirements and permit compliance.
  • Evaluate existing assets for land stewardship opportunities with land managers and lessees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to vegetation and biodiversity management.
  • Collaborate with ESG, Public Affairs, and Communications teams to develop external engagement opportunities.
  • Draft SOPs supporting land stewardship activities and provide training as needed.
  • Support ESG in sustainability reporting, data analysis, KPI setting, and storytelling of land stewardship efforts.
  • Participate in industry association groups.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Rangeland Management, Environmental Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of experience in vegetation management, land management, data management, and project management.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations for renewable energy land development.
  • Understanding of land management strategies to improve ecosystem health (e.g., holistic land management, grazing, hydrology, wildlife biology, soil science, plant physiology).
  • Knowledge of herbicide and pesticide regulations.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of the renewable energy industry and company policies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management, including large datasets analysis.
  • Willingness to travel 20-25%.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting up to twenty pounds.

Leeward Management Services, LLC is committed to diversity and equal employment opportunity. We do not accept unsolicited resumes from staffing agencies without a current agreement.
